Construction21 has entered a new stage of development with the creation on Tuesday 23rd of April in Brussels, of the association "Construction21 AISBL *. This signature has led to a public meeting in the presence of the founding partners, as well as representatives of the European Commission and international organizations involved in the topics of sustainable building.

Construction21 will soon reach the end of the European funding that enabled its creation via a 2-years IEE project of the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, EACI. The founding partners of the portal had to set up a self-governance for the further development of this tool of general interest dedicated to the professionals of the European building sector.

The new association brings together operators of existing portals in each country, the chapters, as well as the technical operator, CIRIDD, which will manage the network Construction21 collectively. They will be joined over time by the new chapters,  operators of future Construction21 platforms that will  open on new territories.

With an audience already very significant in the first six founding countries, with 30,000 unique visitors each month, the portal Construction21 pursues ambitious growth objectives, with the planned opening of three new chapters by the end of 2013. New features are also in project: a training database, already on line on the French portal will be extended to all countries by September 2013. A database with the best solutions for sustainable cities is under study for early 2014.

Facilitating professional collaboration at local, national and international level on extended perimeters, Construction21 contributes to improving the environmental, energy and economic performance of the construction sector in Europe and beyond.
